United Way Now Accepting 2009 Community Grant Applications

United Way of Treasure Valley is now accepting Letters of Intent from organizations interested in applying for a Community Impact grant in 2009. Letters from interested non-profit organizations are due by Thursday, September 25th. United Way Community Impact grants are made to non-profit organizations who improve lives in our community. Grants are awarded in three focus areas supporting Education, Income, and Health.

Last year, United Way awarded grants to more than 50 community programs at 32 non-profit organizations. The grants ranged from $1,500 to $120,000. United Way’s grants are invested exclusively in the Treasure Valley, working to improve lives of people right here in our community.

United Way is also looking for community volunteers interested in serving on Impact Review Teams to make decisions about program effectiveness and community needs. Beginning in December, volunteers review applications, make site visits, and hear presentations. More details about funding goals, the process, or how to get involved as a volunteer can be found at www.unitedwaytv.org or by contacting Melissa Nickel, Community Impact Investments Director at 336-1070 ext. 124.

The Community Campaign underway now is the primary source of funding for these grants. This year’s campaign goal is $6 million. For more information about the campaign or to see how United Way invests community donations, visit www.helpthemostpeople.com.
