United Way raises $5.4 million in community campaign!
BOISE — United Way of Treasure Valley is pleased to announce the successful completion of its 2006-07 fundraising campaign which raised $5.4 million to help the most vulnerable in our community. The campaign which began in September involved more than 300 Treasure Valley companies, 254 volunteers, 15 Loaned Executives – lead staff from local companies – and the 15 members of the United Way staff.
More than 18,000 individuals donated to the campaign. “Our donations ranged in amounts from a single dollar to a million dollars this year”, said Sally Zive, United Way’s President and CEO. “Everyone played their part in this campaign and should be very proud of these impressive results. We want to sincerely thank our loyal donors, community partners and their employees, committed volunteers and a great staff, whose contributions will bring lasting change to the Treasure Valley.”
United Way is engaged and working on community problems and improving lives with real results in three priority areas – helping children & youth achieve their potential, promoting financial stability for working families, and improving people’s health.
One of the differences between United Way of Treasure Valley and others is that 100% of a donor’s gift goes to work where they want it. “No matter how a donor chooses to give, no administrative costs are deducted from their donation because Corporate Champions pay our administrative costs through their corporate gifts,” said Zive.
United Way funding also supports the Community Safety Net which last year awarded grants to more than 50 youth, family, and health programs in the Treasure Valley. Local organizations with programs in the three priority areas compete for funding in a volunteer driven, open, competitive process. The 2007 grant recipients will be announced on April 11 at United Way’s annual meeting.
