United Way and Albertsons/SUPERVALU to announce winner of $1,000 worth of groceries

Boise, Idaho – United Way of Treasure Valley and Albertsons/SUPERVALU will announce the winner of $1,000 worth of groceries on Monday, June 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Albertsons at Eagle Road and State Street.  The winner was drawn from over 950 entries in a contest that launched United Way’s new Born Learning, School Readiness Initiative.  In order to enter, contestants had to complete an online entry form and answer three questions about the importance of quality early learning experiences.

Born Learning is a United Way public service program offering a comprehensive approach to school readiness.  Its focus is to help parents and caregivers prepare children for success in school, work and life through active involvement in their child’s earliest learning experiences.  As a child’s first and most important teacher, parents can easily turn everyday moments into fun, engaging learning opportunities by:

  1. Talking with children.  Asking them questions and encouraging their answers.
  2. Reading to children at least 30 minutes per day.
  3. Limiting children’s screen time (TV, computers, video games) to 2 hours per day or less.

United Way’s Born Learning Initiative is sponsored by Albertsons/SUPERVALU and the following media partners: The Idaho Statesman, KIVI-TV Today’s Channel 6, Journal Broadcast Group and Lamar Outdoor Advertising.
