Together, United Way and the community partners you see here are disrupting the cycle of poverty through focused attention on Education.
Recent research from United Way Worldwide emphasizes 4 critical milestones to focus on in a young person’s life. Early learning and kindergarten readiness, reading proficiency by 4th grade, transition to junior high and high school graduation with the opportunity for post-secondary education and employment.
Thanks to the thousands of individuals who donate to the Community Fund. You helped:
- 1,054 low-income children achieved developmental milestones
- 131 low-income children who were at risk of arriving without the skills to be successful entered kindergarten testing at or above grade level
- 787 low-income parents engaged in more language and literacy promoting behaviors with their children
- 3,241 low-income youth developed nurturing relationships with adult
- 684 low-income youth developed positive relationship skills
- 862 low-income youth improved their academic performance
- More than 550 low-income youth increased their physical activity promoting health and wellness
