United Way Now Accepting 2008 Community Grant Applications
United Way of Treasure Valley is now accepting Letters of Intent from organizations interested in applying for a Community Impact grant in 2008-09. Letters from interested non-profit organizations are due by Friday, November 2nd. United Way Community Impact grants are made to non-profit organizations who improve lives in our community. Grants are awarded in three focus areas supporting Youth, Health, and Families.
United Way will also host a public meeting about its grant application process next Tuesday, October 23, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at the United Way office at 1276 River Street, Boise in the 2nd floor conference room. Local non-profit organizations who have never applied for a Community Impact grant are especially encouraged to attend. They can meet with United Way staff to learn more about the grant application process and make sure they meet the requirements necessary for applying.
United Way is also looking for community volunteers interested in serving on Impact Review Teams to make decisions about program effectiveness and community needs. From January through March volunteers review applications, make site visits, and hear presentations. More details about funding goals, the process, or how to get involved as a volunteer can be found at www.unitedwaytv.org or by calling 336-1070. Last year 57 programs operated by 36 non-profit agencies received grants from United Way.
The Community Campaign underway now is the primary source of funding for these grants. The goal of this year’s campaign is $5.8 million.
