Treasure Valley students to spend this spring break helping others

Boise, Idaho – More than 80 Treasure Valley High School students will be spending their Spring Break in service at Farmway Village, a low-income housing community outside of Caldwell. The students will be participating in the second annual Alternative Spring Break – Break Through, staged by United Way of Treasure Valley and One Stone, Inc.

The students, representing multiple high schools, will spend two days working on service projects including expanding a community garden area, renovating four housing units, fencing a community basketball court and painting a mural at the 81 acre site.

The project - planned, organized and led by a steering committee of 15 students – is an opportunity for high schoolers from communities across the Treasure Valley to get to know each other through their work. This year’s project will build upon the success of last year’s inaugural Alternative Spring Break: Break Through with the Original Gangster’s Academy in Nampa.

Event sponsors include Tates Rents, Albertsons/SUPERVALU, Swire Coca Cola, Treasure Valley Family YMCA, Caldwell Housing Authority, and Idaho Associated General Contractors (AGC).
