MAYOR BIETER AWARDS KEY TO THE CITY
TO UNITED WAY CEO SALLY ZIVE
Mayor David Bieter today bestowed the City’s highest honor on United Way of Treasure Valley CEO Sally Zive for her years of service to the Boise community. The key was presented by the Mayor at a ceremony held during today’s regular City Council meeting. Zive recently announced she is retiring from her position after 11 years as CEO.
“At almost any point when the City was most in need of guidance and community support, Sally Zive came to our aid,” Mayor Bieter said. “Through her creativity, her commitment and her resilience, Sally has made a profound difference in improving the lives of Boiseans and the livability of our city.”
Zive played a major role in guiding the city in a wide variety of issues critical to Boise. Zive was instrumental in transitioning the city from the former Community House model toward a multi-agency, public/private partnership addressing the root causes of homelessness. She served on the Policy Team of the City’s 10-Year Plan to Reduce and Prevent Chronic Homelessness as well as the Housing and Community Development Community Advisory Committee, which allocates federal funds to social service providers. She was instrumental in bringing together the many community partners to create Allumbaugh House, the long-needed community detox and crisis mental health facility set to open this spring. She has served on the Mayor’s Business Roundtable that helped create the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan and on the Mayor’s Council on Children and Youth that has focused on early learning and after-school opportunities and youth civic engagement.
The key to the city plaque presented to Zive featured the following inscription:
“With heartfelt appreciation for her leadership and commitment to our community’s health and well-being and the countless ways she has improved our lives and enriched our spirits.”
