The primary goal of United Way’s School Readiness Initiative is to encourage Treasure Valley parents and caregivers to prepare children for success in school, work and life through active involvement in their child’s earliest learning experiences.
-
Talk with your children because learning starts long before school does. Ask your children questions and encourage them to give answers. Children who ask questions in school understand and learn better.
-
Read to your children at least 30 minutes per day. Children who are read to do better in school.
-
Limit children's screen time to 2 hours per day or less. Children who spend less time in front of a screen (computers, television, video games) are calmer, don't eat as much junk food and concentrate better in school.
