Allumbaugh House
The newly completed Allumbaugh House
Community leaders from across the Treasure Valley

Elected officials and community leaders from across the valley celebrate the opening of Allumbaugh House – the long awaited center built to provide sobering detoxification, sobering and crisis mental health services for a multi-county region. Allumbaugh House began taking referrals on May 3, 2010.

Allumbaugh House is a result of more than five years of collaboration led by the City of Boise in partnership with Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Ada County, the City of Meridian, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, St. Luke’s Health System and United Way of Treasure Valley. Additional funding was provided through federal funds brought home by Idaho’s congressional delegation and local nonprofits including J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation; Julius C. Jeker Foundation; Community Detox Coalition; and Wells Fargo Foundation. The opening of Allumbaugh House will create 25 jobs in the Boise Valley.

United Way’s commitment has been steadfast in:
  • Securing government partners for sustainable operational funding – (State through Governor’s Office and Department of Health and Welfare; Ada County; Cities of Boise, Eagle, Meridian)
  • Securing $1,384,687 in additional project grant revenue for construction funding
  • Negotiating reassignment of the State grant with the Region IV Mental Health Board
  • Development of the architectural plans
  • Reviewing operator applicants
  • Serving on project working committees
  • Working with other partner members (Saint Alphonsus RMC, St. Luke’s, Boise City/Ada County Housing Authority)
  • Funding and identifying a project manager
  • Contracting with BSU for data study
  • Media milestone announcements

United Way remains committed to the ongoing support of Allumbaugh House and the continuum of care needed beyond Detox services.
