Law enforcement officials, drug counselors, and state legislators agree that there has never been a drug as powerful, addictive, and quick to destroy lives and communities as methamphetamine. Meth is the top drug of choice and the #1 drug problem in Idaho. The
Idaho Meth Project (IMP) is a large-scale prevention program aimed at significantly reducing first-time meth use through public service messaging, public policy, and community outreach.
Through a unique partnership with IMP, United Way of Treasure Valley helped launch the Idaho program in 2007 by providing office space and start-up and administrative services that saved them up $500,000 in costs. In early 2008, IMP secured their own 501(c)(3) federal tax exemption status and moved into offices near the center of government where they continue to meet their ongoing funding needs. During last year’s campaign, we were able to help out by raising over $40,000 in designations and donated service fees.
